Robert Davies begann sein Langzeitprojekt 1997: Er bearbeitete auf fotografischem Weg die Fernsehfilme sämtlicher Weltmeisterschaften seit 1930. Bilder, die am Fernsehen von Hunderttausenden gesehen wurden. Die Abstraktion durch die Bildauswahl, die Detailvergrösserung oder eine Farbbearbeitung bewirken, dass der Betrachter die Bilder wieder wie zum ersten Mal sieht.

Als wieder erlangte überhöhte und vergrösserte Erinnerung. Seine Poesie der Details zeigt, dass Fussball niemals eine statistische Wissenschaft ist, sondern ein Kaleidoskop aus Virtuosität, Betrug, Stärke, Wut und Lust.
